South Central Texas Art League
Dianne is a Hallettsville native who started drawing as a child. With no local art classes available, she copied pictures from Archie comic books in her pre-teen years. In high school she drew the Brahma mascot for pep rally and ball game banners. Upon graduation, the senior class used left-over class money to install a picture of a Brahma head in the hallway floor. Dianne drew it, and Paul Renger saw that it was made and installed in the floor. It is still there at HHS today.
In college, Dianne finally had the opportunity to take some art classes. She acquired a 24 hour minor in art, studying at Sam Houston State (Huntsville), Southwest Texas State (San Marcos), and Victoria College. She tried water color, pastels, ink wash, and oils. Though majoring in education, she was always interested in design, so additional coursework included clothing design, housing design, and eventually, landscape design.
She lived and worked in several Texas cities as an educator, and her artistic interest was set aside. She had actually given up hope of getting back to it. Then in 2015 she returned to Hallettsville for elder care and discovered that Michael Windberg was teaching classes here. She has studied with Michael for three years.
Dianne has one son and one grandson living in East Texas.
